Top 10 Westerns
We love westerns here at F.M. Light & Sons; in fact, we have them constantly playing in our store. To prepare for the long winter months inside, we looked to the American Film Institute’s list of the top 10 westerns. The list includes some of our favorites, but most definitely not all of them. 1. The Searchers
As a Civil War veteran spends years searching for a young niece captured by Indians, his motivation becomes increasingly questionable.
2. High Noon
A marshall, personally compelled to face a returning deadly enemy, finds that his own town refuses to help him.

A weary gunfighter attempts to settle down with a homestead family, but a smoldering settler/rancher conflict forces him to act.
4. Unforgiven
Retired Old West gunslinger William Munny reluctantly takes on one last job, with the help of his old partner and a young man.
5. Red River
Dunson is driving his cattle to Red River when his adopted son, Matthew, turns against him.
6. The Wild Bunch
An aging group of outlaws look for one last big score as the “traditional” American West is disappearing around them.
7. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Two Western bank/train robbers flee to Bolivia when the law gets too close.
8. McCabe and Mrs. Miller
A gambler and a prostitute become business partners in a remote Old West mining town, and their enterprise thrives until a large corporation arrives on the scene.
9. Stagecoach
A group of people traveling on a stagecoach find their journey complicated by the threat of Geronimo and learn something about each other in the process
10. Cat Ballou
A woman seeking revenge for her murdered father hires a famous gunman, but he’s very different from what she expects.
