We love westerns here at F.M. Light & Sons; in fact, we have them constantly playing in our store. To prepare for the long winter months inside, we looked to the American Film Institute’s list of the top 10 westerns. The list includes some of our favorites, but most definitely not all of them. Comment and let us know which is your favorite from those below, and tell us which ones we haven’t included. We appreciate your response – we love discussing westerns!

1. The Searchers

As a Civil War veteran spends years searching for a young niece captured by Indians, his motivation becomes increasingly questionable.

8. McCabe and Mrs. Miller

A gambler and a prostitute become business partners in a remote Old West mining town, and their enterprise thrives until a large corporation arrives on the scene.

A group of people traveling on a stagecoach find their journey complicated by the threat of Geronimo and learn something about each other in the process

10. Cat Ballou

A woman seeking revenge for her murdered father hires a famous gunman, but he’s very different from what she expects.
